The Dallas Wings beat the Las Vegas Aces twice in three regular season meetings this year, plus a preseason win. Paige Bueckers was handed a perfect opportunity to talk about it.

Bueckers said she does not want to give anyone any bulletin board material, and that she understands the Aces are a different beast come playoffs.
That is a 24-year-old in her second professional season showing more restraint than most veterans manage. Regular season results against a championship team mean almost nothing in October, and she knows it.
The Wings Are Back in the Postseason
Dallas is in as the seventh seed, their first playoff appearance since 2023. Bueckers has dragged this franchise back into relevance faster than anyone reasonably expected.
They closed the regular season with a 103-91 win over Seattle, the kind of offensive performance that makes a low seed dangerous.
The First-Round Opponent Is Still Undecided
As things stand, the Wings are slated to face the second-seeded Golden State Valkyries. Results could shift the defending champion Aces into that spot instead.
That uncertainty is exactly why Bueckers kept her mouth shut. Talking about the Aces when you might not even play them is how a quote follows you into a series you did not plan for.
Why the Regular Season Record Is a Trap
Las Vegas has been the most playoff-hardened team in the league for years. They lose regular season games to teams they later dismantle in a series, and they have done it repeatedly.
A’ja Wilson is still the most dominant player in the sport, and the Aces’ entire identity is built around locking in when it counts. Dallas beating them in the regular season tells you the Wings can compete. It does not tell you they can win a playoff series against them.
Bueckers understands the difference. That is why she is not talking.
The Real Story Here
Dallas was irrelevant three years ago. Now they have a franchise guard who plays like a veteran, says the right things publicly, and has a team believing it can beat anybody.
Seven seeds do not usually win championships. Seven seeds with a guard who can get a bucket whenever she wants make the higher seed miserable for a week.
Dallas has the shooting to stretch a defense and a guard who can create her own look when the offense breaks down. That combination has ended better seasons than this one.
The Aces should take this series seriously. Bueckers is going to make sure they have no extra reason to.
